This was the ninth year of the wildly successful Dancing with the Stars of the ‘Burg!
Each year seven local celebrity stars are matched with an amateur dance partner from the Shenandoah Valley chapter of USA Dance. The teams practice and fundraise for 14 weeks. The Children’s Champion trophy is awarded to the team who has the most pre-show donations. The Judge’s Choice is awarded to the best dance performance the night of the show. The People’s Choice award goes to the team with the most votes from the night of the show. The coveted Mirror Ball Trophy and the title of Grand Champion is presented to the team with the highest overall score.
Over a span of eight years, through the overwhelming generosity of the community, Harrisonburg-Rockingham Child Daycare Center has been able to raise more than $500,000 with our successful fundraising event Dancing with the Stars of the 'Burg. In August 2017, HRCDCC purchased a building in downtown Harrisonburg. As we design and renovate our own space, keeping children foremost in mind, the center strives to increase it's positive impact on the lives of families, employers, and the greater community. We plan to expand services to include infant and toddler care, and offer an after-school program for school age children.
We are launching a three-year capital campaign to take us the distance of fully realizing our dream of being in our forever home by our 50th anniversary in 2021.
